So I have the MC-11 and I've been adapting. When it comes to wide angle there hasn't been anything wrong w/ the adapted canon mk3. Just wondering ya'lls thoughts on why I should go native.

If using the 16-35 for landscapes etc and mainly manual focus I would keep the canon if you already have it. If you are using af I’d possibly think about changing but af on adapted lenses seems to be at a point now where native might not even be required for af with this focal range.

Didn’t really help there did I haha

The 16-35 GM looks to be a stellar lens, it’s not that much heavier than the f/4 version which is pretty amazing. Good for Astro too as good coma. My GM was a dud and was returned but I think I just had bad luck as others love theirs

I should add I used to use the canon 16-35 f/4 adapted on the original A7R and never had an issue with IQ

If you shoot video the MC-11 is worthless for AF. Plus Usm on the mkiii lens with bzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzz in the mic.

I don’t have native glass and I realize that my A7iii is just a stills camera. Low light af with canon glass is mediocre and is only good with casual work imo. Adapted canon is just an temp solution imo or for those who want a variety without fully committing to one camera system.

If your all into Sony sell your 200L and buy the sigma 105 f1.4 for portraits.

When I use my 70-200 f/2.8mk2 on my Sony it works but just "good enough" This is where I can grab my Fuji X-t2 with 50-140mm and land incredible beautiful accurate images for portraits/family sessions/group shots in good light and achieve fast action shots too. Even in good light the adapted canon glass is "ok" if that. This is why application of the photog is really the question and what gear they use should support their style. My Canon 70-200 is usable but garbage on my A7iii for what I need it for.....this is why I need to get $$$$$ Sony glass.

I'de swap out for the GM or even 16-35 f4. I dont care for a 2.8 ultrawide, but a shooting buddy swears by the GM, more crisp than the 16-35 f4.

there's also the laowa 15 f2, batis 18, loxia 21, tokina 20 f2 if you want fast or small options.

Charlie I'll admit my Canon 16-35 f/2.8L mk2 is "OK" in the sharpness department when I used it with my Canon 5dmk2 and 5dmk3. I'll have to say with the 5dmk4 that lens image quality has moved up a notch in sharpness and micro contrast preventing me from buying the Canon 16-35 f/2.8mk3. Strangely the 5dmk4 w/ 16-35 f/2.8mk2 has similar image quality compared to my 5dmk3 with Tamron 15-30vc (image quality is better than 16-35 mk2).

In good light I'm finding the Sony A7iii with adapted Canon 16-35 f/2.8mk2 to be incredibly sharp. But as a family documentation camera I'm stuck with stills only. This is why I see no point in Talley keeping a useless non video application lens since he's a full on Sony guy now. I cannot see a large amount of Sony shooters documenting family vid clips using manual focus.....just sayin'.

Talley, I see no point in you hanging on to your Canon glass. You've made the leap to Sony with full force so I would think buying the GM 16-35 f/2.8 is the way to go.

Since your wife still owns Fuji I feel you should consider buying her a 10-24mm UWA and very light weight 50-140mm for versatile family documentation (good light/moderately low light application). You'll get unbelievable buttery rich eye candy files totally different to your Sony. This way you have different flavours in the images you have of your family......again just sayin'.

So far I've yet to achieve similar looking Sony files to look like my eye candy Fuji look for family portraits. However as you know the Sony system has signature Sony look with incredible dynamic range and low light capabilities. I think you should utilize your wife's setup to maximize family documentation capabilities.

More and more I use Sony I feel it's such a great system that compliments my Canon and Fuji. The render of my 5dmk4 w/ Canon 85Lmk2, Fuji X-t2 w/ 56mm f/1.2 would be totally different to Sony with GM 85 or both 85 f/1.8 available lenses (From my observation in camera store Sony gear testing).

I'll assure you that you would not regret using both camera systems/gear you have in your household.

Good point guys. The 16-35 would be a great travel lens with the addition of being a stellar video lens using crop mode. 16-50mm all in one lens for video.

Wife is getting a a7iii. Her Fuji system is going up for sale too.

I’m swapping the 70-200GM for a 100-400. Keeping 85a/200L. Ordered the Tamron 28-75 for the wife. Gonna sell the 50 1.8 for the 55 1.8 and swap the SY35/2.8 for the Zeiss.

Looks like 16-35GM it is.

For some reason I like but don’t like the 85GM.

The Tammy 28-75 does sound like a reasonably priced alternative for the $$$ Sony world. I just wonder how bad the 28mm distortion is. $1300CDN for a non SP version is a bummer but I think the reviews are still pretty good.

I WILL NOT buy the 28-75mm lens until they resolve the AF issue.
