Last Sunday I participated in a Big Day of birding in our county. And we won! We didn't get the highest species totals, but points were awarded for photos taken and for sharing rarities found with other groups. I birded with two "county-lister" friends who are very astute birders; one has excellent hearing as well, despite his advanced age. Anyway, while this really isn't my style of birding, I was able to add a couple lifers to my list and also to photograph a few nifty birds. Connecticut Warblers, while not rare, are tough to find due to the generally inaccessible habitat they frequent. I have photographed them before, but this shot is perhaps a personal best. And the Pine Warbler shot completes my portfolio of all 25 warbler species that are generally found in our county; I now have good shots of them all.
