I am looking for anyone's recent experience using this service. I am considering joining CPP (I have the points to qualify), but I wanted to see real world experience with the evaluation loans. My main concerns is how long you were able to keep it, and how expensive was it to ship back. I have seen some people post that it cost close to $200 to ship everything back insured. On the CPP info page it says they send you a shipping label to send it back, but are you required to use a certain service? Any other experiences?

Thanks

You get 10 days less shipping both ways. Canon ships to you overnight for free, you choose how to ship it back. You have to insure it for the full value specified by Canon in the evaluation agreement, which I found was greater than the MSRP. If all you're interested in is the evaluation program its probably not a good value. But if you regularly send your gear in for cleaning and check-ups, or can take advantage of Canon's event support (typically only for credentialed photographers), it's not a bad deal.

Plus you get a nifty strap and pin. :)
