Aside from having a card hung around your neck, are there any other benefits to NPPA?

Will it open doors to shoot events that you normally wouldn't be allowed?

I am looking for experience and examples of how membership benefited you.

If I am reading this correctly, being an independent media photographer, this puts you into a group
which is official, rather than flying solo.

I am thinking of joining, but as always.. counting my milk money.

Thanks!
Andrew

Only shooting Z6II, moved up from the Z50; both are fantastic

Location: Where I'm from is unimportant, it's where I'm going that counts.

What sort of shoots are you thinking of?

For serious sports you will need accreditation, which will require that you be working for a client (not just on spec) who has to apply on your behalf. Concerts and many other organised events will be the same.

Nope it will not.

Their monthly rag was pretty good with some great ideas and stories to learn from but lately had gotten so political I did not renew my membership.

As for access you need a press pass to begin with, if your local government doesn't issue them, make your own.

When I worked back in Broward I came across a stringer for News 4 and he had a Broward County press pass, however Broward doesn't issue PP's, I asked him where he got his PP from and he gave me a link to a company that prints ID cards for a small fee.

He did the artwork added his photo $20 bucks and week later had an "official" unofficial PP that no one in authority questioned.
