Has anyone sold gear to adorama? If so did they give you a proper price?

I do love buying from Adorama but I haven't gotten any luck with them trying to sell. I've sent in several online request to sell my equipment and never once got a response. The one time I called to sell a camera body they offered me 70% of what they said was market value.

I do realize I'd get more money selling my used gear here. Just hard to sell when no one is looking for it

I have sold to Adorama numerous times. No issues you will get more if you just do store credit (my experience anyway) but you will not get resale value. Or trade your gear in toward new gear.

I'm ok with store credit. I buy 99% of my stuff online anyway. And have purchased from them in the past.

They gave me a very low price. Better off selling it your self.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

But agree with the above posts u will not get resale value. Adorama is a business they cant make money if they paid resale value.

Any figure given prior to actually examining any item can only be an estimate of Adorama's expected resale value.
Once an item has been received, it is checked over thoroughly by the technical team, and if it is an item that they believe has re-sale potential, a quote, based on UP TO 70% of the expected resale value will be offered.

The 30% (+ or -) is to cover costs such as staffing, storage, building overheads - and, of course, Adorama is a business! A pre-paid label is provided for sellers to send their equipment in for valuation, fully insured - and if you decide not to sell to Adorama, your gear will be shipped back, fully insured, at no cost to you.

As a reseller of used equipment, Adorama offers a 6-month warranty on most of the used equipment sold, including a 30-day returns period; allowances therefore need to be made for the costs associated with a certain number of items being returned, repaired or exchanged.

Any value that may be suggested for purchasing used equipment prior to a thorough examination by our technicians, can only be an estimate based upon the seller's description. If you are unhappy with the figure suggested you are most welcome to ask for your equipment to be returned to you as quickly as possible.

Finally, not all items can be accepted. If the warehouse has a number of identical units which are not moving fast, your trade will not be accepted - or you will be offered a lower figure than you might want.

I hope this helps, but please don't hesitate to email me directly, if I can ever be of assistance.

Sounds like you work there?

I realise it's a business. I also assumed they offer me less than u could expect to get selling it myself. Was curious how much less. I'll give it more time here to sell before sending it off for a quote.

A good rule of thumb is that you will get 40-50% less than selling it yourself. A business has to cover customer shipping and small warranty / return periods, and make a profit to cover the employee aspect. You will make more selling it on Amazon.

It depends on how many they have in stock - if there is only one you could expect to be paid more than if they have 12!

Careful with their seller protection, as you have zero.
