Prairie Icterids - Yellow-headed Blackbird and Western Meadowlark

From last month's birding trip to SW Manitoba. There's nothing like the song of a Western Meadowlark to let you know you are out on the prairies.

I like these and the included habitat. But have a question-you centered the subject in both. Curious?

Thanks for commenting, Rog. As for centering, I haven’t thought about it much, but it just seemed right for these poses. They would seem off balance to me any other way.

There's quite a difference in song between the Eastern and Western though; the Western is much more flute-like.
