I have had problems with the Flashpoint R2T (Godox X-1T) Transmitter being too close to the StreakLight 360 TTL (Godox AD360 II) or my receivers for consistent triggering and noticed that this has been a problem for other photographers as well.

Here is a solution that was provided by a member of another forum who is very proficient with the Godox type flash system. I thought that I might share this solution with other photographers...

Richard, have you tried putting the X1T into "close" mode? This was added in a firmware update after initial release because of issues with triggering when the flash/trigger were close together (within 1m). On the X1T-C, you have to be at firmware v15 or later (you can check by holding down the MODE button while turning on the X1T), and you turn close mode on by holding down the TEST button while turning on the X1T. The STATUS light will blink for 2 seconds to indicate "close mode" is active. You will have to do this every time you turn the X1T on, btw. However, on the XPro, the "DIST" C.Fn setting will stick between power cycles.

I didn't even know that there was a firmware update for the X1Tvmad

Thanks for the info. I haven't upgraded my firmware as I believe it's Windows only. I just bought the Flashpoint R2 Pro transmitter, so I hope this issue is fixed out of the gate.

[waves at Richard]. Hi. I'm here, too. :) This is, in fact, the board where I learned most of my Godox knowledge and folklore. Mostly from the venerable 90+ page Godox X system integration thread. :)

Just FYI, if you're on a Mac, while it's a colossal PITA, you can actually run Windows without a Windows box and perform Godox firmware updates with their Windows G1/G2 firmware updating apps. I use a Boot Camp partition (external link) and a Windows 10 license, others report success with virtual machines, such as those you can create with Parallels and VMWare. Still others report success doing it for free with VirtualBox (external link) and Microsoft's 90-day virtual machines for developers (external link).

Or, you could cave and blow cash on a cheap Windows tablet. :) The one path to avoid is using Wine (external link) via Winebottler (external link), since the G1/G2 apps require a proprietary USB driver, which Wine cannot use.

I just bought the Flashpoint R2 Pro transmitter, so I hope this issue is fixed out of the gate.

The XPro transmitters and the X1T Fuji and Olympus/Panasonic versions came out after Close Mode was added, so do not require a firmware update to use. You only need a firmware update if you're using an X1T-C pre-v15; an X1T-F pre-v16; or an X1T-S pre-v13.

However, by default, the XPro transmitters have their DIST function set to "1-100m", not "0-30m" (aka close mode), so you do have to change this setting if you want to use it with a Godox XPro transmitter.

I'm a woman. I shoot with a Fuji X100T, Panasonic GX-7, Canon 5DmkII, and 50D. flickr stream (external link)
