I will be traveling to the National Mall this year and was wondering how safe it is to shoot at night around the Memorials?

Any other photography tips for this area?

Thanks,

Mike D.

I didn't have any problems. The place was teeming with tourists. DC is a great photogenic city. Take a tripod for night monument shots.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

No issues with photography in the monument areas, walking in between sites might be. Plenty of officers around, I was alone in one area around 2am and was approached by an officer, I was questioned and told that photography was not allowed(capitol building)in the area. He told me to get my shot/s quickly and move on, that was really cool of him.

They’re aware of the tourists and cameras, just know that authorities may approach and question you if you’re out late like me. Same for the metro
