Love those low angles!

You could turn that first shot to the right and I think it would work better. It might have been in that position when you shot it, but as the viewer I can't tell. Turning it to the right would keep me from turning my head to the left when I look at it :)

Excellent behavioral shots!

Your light is a little harsh. What are you using as a light source, and how are you using it/diffusing it?

I don't know what they are other than small wasps and a beetle, but they are small. The bloom is about 3/8-inch across.

The beetle is a Carpet Beetle. Not even gonna guess on the wasps. Very nice photo.

No idea what it was, but quite pretty.
Certainly not the best of photos but it shows the colours
Body about 20mm long without any spiky or other extensions

Colourful insect, Richard, but I'm not sure I'd want to get too close to it.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Probably an ichneumon wasp of some sort. Never seen a green one though.

Yep, that's an Owl Butterfly! There were quite a few of them out while I was there, and most were happily resting so it made taking some closer shots nice and easy

Thanks!

There are limited options where I was for lighting as the park I was at discourages flashes being used. For these I had my 430-EXII flash with just a basic slip-on 6" hood diffuser. The wasp was an unexpected sight, as they are not normally in the indoor park area, so I didn't have a lot of time to adjust settings. Overall, I'm happy with them!
