I'd like to get a shot of a Chafer Beetle feeding, but it's just not windy enough and when I grab onto the flower they're on they can tell and they stop eating. The technique that I use for shooting active subejcts actually works best on windy days.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC,). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, and Clarity in that order.

Archibald, do you already have insects way up north?
We're still at freezing or just above in the mornings here.

No bugs here yet, lots of old snow on the ground still. It's so variable this time of year. Forecast high for Saturday is -5°C and +9°C four days later. The bugs typically come back in mid-May but it can vary by a week. When it happens, I hope we still have access to wild areas.

Interesting macro with the Sigma 150-600mm. Were you using an auxiliary lens?
