This is a raspberry crown borer mimicking a wasp but is actually a harmless moth.

Liparus glabrirostris - Europe's largest weevil. First time I have seen one, and of course, another came along right away, just like a bus.

That is quite an impressive weevil.

Here's a small (18mm or so) cranefly from one of the lemon trees this evening. Not sure of species yet.... I admit to loving the way small drab insects suddenly come to colourful life when shot up close :-)

Indeed, lots of interesting detail. Prominent halters on this crane fly.

It might be a nymph assassin bug of some sort. It looks very small. You got the eyes nice and sharp!

Ran into another small mantis yesterday a little bigger than the last but could still easily sit on my finger tip. I took some shots with both my 90D and my 5DS. The 5DS did a really good job, not surprisingly really but it's just not a body I normally use for macro shots.

Why did you like the 5DS for that scene?

P.S. Most of the time you're the reason why the photo turned out well and not the gear. If the light is good, and your composition skills are on point, you could have taken that shot with a cell phone that has one of those special cell phone macro lenses attached to it.
