I try to have the eyes in focus, ie be able to see the facet's of the eye. It's not to tiny, it's a shieldbug about 8 to 10 mm long.

The canon mt24ex with diffusors(they look the same as yours, bought them after a tip from Dalantech) and both on adjustable kaiser flash shoes. Similar to your setup except the mt24.
