Do you mind sharing your source? Just ordered a Bolt twin flash that is kinda new to the market.

This is where I bought my diffusers: https://www.macrodiffuser.com/ (external link)

Fascinating image. I was just thinking today how I generally only see flies on their own and how I would like a photo with a few of them in.

I sent an email, hope to hear from them soon. What do you think of the diffusers?

That's where mine come from too.

Here is a review from Dalantech: https://nocroppingzone.blogspot.com …lash-diffuser-review.html (external link)

I think they work ok, were a bit fiddly to assemble(had to apply the foil inside myself, think that's changed) and the total rig gets big, when searching for bugs between the plants I often bump into parts of the plant with the heads(but that's also true without diffusors)

I must have a more recent version as I did not have to assemble mine. Was really simple and just a case of pushing them onto the flash heads. I only bought mine a few weeks ago.

Here are the instructions how it used to be: https://youtu.be/mq0hDgj8mXw (external link)
I think I've read somewhere he's changed it so that's no longer a problem.

Thanks for sharing that link - it does look fiddly!

When I ordered mine they arrived fully assembled and they are white on the inside.

I raised a question yesterday asking if my set (I ordered the set for the Yongnuo Macro Flash) would fit on the Canon Macro flash and the answer was yes.

I did need to take out one of the little white pegs on each to remove it from my Yongnuo flash heads but fortunately there were 2 spare white pegs.

So I just have to wait and see if they will be going back on to a Yongnuo or a Canon...

I really like them. Though I only managed to have a play with them for a few days before my Yongnuo developed the fault. I am prob not the best person to comment on them as I am really new to macrophotography but I believe Dalantech highly rated them and he is an experienced macro photographer.

I have also ordered some sort of diffuser that fits on the lens from a company in Australia but it has been waiting at Sydney airport for over 2 weeks so not sure it will ever arrive.

If this was quite small I suspect it's a male mosquito, Archie. certainly looks like one.

I was pleased with this until I saw the other thread from LordV with the amazing Hoverfly photos

Thanks all for the help, & the link. I spoke with Ian via email & although he has no set directly for my new flash (Bolt), it looks like a complete clone of the Meike twin flash of which he has a set. He will accept a return if they do not work & if they do work he gets to add another flash to his website. Win win!

That's great news. Ian seems like a top bloke! Fingers crossed they fit.

Thanks for the info. It seemed bigger than the usual mosquito to me. But I'm not familiar with what a male mosquito might look like or how big they might be. I will do some investigating.
