Very special shots! It looks like a bee-mimic beetle.

It does make sense now that DPP would do the job due to the new Canon mirrorless lineup that are capable of focus bracketing. You mentioned a learning curve, I suppose you could say that. However, Helicon does most of the heavy lifting for you. Most of the extra computer time is due to the time it takes to align then stack the images. A dozen or so JPEGs are no big deal. But if you decided to stack 150 RAW images, go make a sandwich (probably still have time for a nap).

I found this 22 Spot Ladybug Larva grazing on some fungus that's growing on my zucchini leaves.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/160, ISO 200) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (over 2x) + a diffused MT-26EX RT (E-TTL metering). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order.

Very cute pic of that ladybug larva. I've never seen one like that.

Ran across another white mantis, I followed it around some flowers and it happened to sit on a white petal for a while. It certainly blended in well! I still don't know why these are this color, but they really are very interesting to see.

Color-contrasted eyes! Very pretty, Jay!

Thanks! That one had some really nice dark red eyes. From what I know, their eyes usually turn a red/pink when there's not a lot of light...I could be wrong about that though!

What an amazing find. I guess these mantises use preying strategy like crab spiders do, which is to camouflage, sit on flowers and wait for customers. Apart from that, very attractive photos.
