Very interesting and kind of funny, in that last photo with the ladybug larva pigging out on the aphids! Looks a bit stressful for the plant.

They were everywhere, covering the tops of 6 or 7 milkweeds. So that is a larva of a ladybug? Thanks for the ID. Do the aphids grow up to something else or have they reached their full potential?

I should be more careful, because I'm not sure it is a ladybug larva.

Edit: OK, it does look like a ladybug larva. But it doesn't have the bright markings that are usually present. More info in the link.

I guess they are aphis nerii, commonly known (surprise!) as milkweed aphids. I'm not any kind of expert in this, I used iNaturalist.com (external link) to check it, uploading temporarily your photo.

These hairy things are Trioza dispar nymphs of a psyllid. Their body size is 1-2 mm and can be found e.g. on the underside of dandelion leaf.

A kind of leaf flea! That certainly is different, and very interesting. Thanks for introducing us to this. (New to me anyway.)

Thanks Archibald. Took me awhile to study what I saw. I first didn't understand that they are animals.

I just now realized that the larva is eating away & the other aphids are not bothered at all. I guess now I understand why I was able to man handle the plant roughly & not spook them.
