Thanks very much for the comments everyone! Much appreciated!

And no, I didn't use the flip-out screen for this one Dennis... but that might have been because I forgot it was there :-)

Nice & close. I was told (not sure if accurate) that the "daddy long legs" are extremely poisonous & can easily kill a human BUT they cannot pierce our skin???

Maybe in Australia!

But no, I don't think that is right. More info here.

Misconception[edit]

"Chelate (pincer-like) chelicerae typical of harvestmen (200Ă— magnification); these chelicerae are homologous to chelicerae that take the form of fangs in spiders or chelae in the Solifugae.
An urban legend claims that the harvestman is the most venomous animal in the world,[59] but possesses fangs too short or a mouth too round and small to bite a human, rendering it harmless (the same myth applies to Pholcus phalangioides and the cranefly, which are both also called a "daddy longlegs").[60] This is untrue on several counts. None of the known species of harvestmen has venom glands; their chelicerae are not hollowed fangs but grasping claws that are typically very small and not strong enough to break human skin. "

Thank you for the link, the above quote says it all. It also explains why PSteven referred to his crane fly as "daddy long legs".

I seen a similar photo elsewhere and it said the following:

"This is Ophiocordyceps unilateralis or Zombie Fungus. It enters the insect's exoskeleton and travels up into the brain. The insect is still alive but is forced to climb to a high point on a plant where it will attract another so as to pass on the infection."
