Yes, cool stuff. I had no idea either. I had a hard time focusing on the actual nymph as it was dwarfed by it debris. The only reason I knew what it was is because of the one I came across a few months ago. It had very little on it's back so it was easier to ID.

A Sparkling Northern Jumping Spider, (between 5mm and 6mm in size) and some type of fly taken with the Canon EOS R6 at the Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane.

Cheers

Great shots with the new camera. I love the sharpness and color.

Just curious what the possibilities are with the R6 with natural light macro.

Fuji compact waterproof camera at the park. No editing or crop. I like to keep a pocket camera with me all the time.

It's good to have a camera with you all the time. Will the Fuji get any closer?

Hi Ed

Although these photos are not of bugs, they are examples of the Canon EOS R6 using natural light and "Focus Bracketing", where the subject was relatively still.

Both were taken with the camera/lens just resting on a metal railing and the 20 fps really helps in rattling off the frames quickly to mitigate against slight camera movement. You can see some stacking artifacts but these could probably be further reduced by more targeted masking and editing.

I think both were stacks of 10-12 frames.

Cheers

Dennis

We visited the Roma Street Parklands yesterday and I found a large leafed plant that had some Green Long-legged Flies resting on the broad leaves, warming up in the early morning Sun.

Whenever I tried to take a shot of one, the pre-flash would spook it and they would jump up, so I had several shots of empty leaves, or an OOF fly departing the frame.

But, for a few attempts, I got lucky and the fly stayed still, or flew up in the plane of focus, so I was able to create a couple of composites in PS CC.

Cheers

Dennis

Great creative work. I love the eyes.

Some of those little flies spook instantly on the pre-flash with the result that you get an empty frame. That is why I almost always shoot manual (no preflash). Never thought to try to take advantage of it.
