We visited the Roma Street Parklands yesterday and I found a large leafed plant that had some Green Long-legged Flies resting on the broad leaves, warming up in the early morning Sun.

Whenever I tried to take a shot of one, the pre-flash would spook it and they would jump up, so I had several shots of empty leaves, or an OOF fly departing the frame.

But, for a few attempts, I got lucky and the fly stayed still, or flew up in the plane of focus, so I was able to create a couple of composites in PS CC.

Cheers

Dennis

Great shots! That parasite looks quite large for the fly! Do you know if it harms the host? Or is it just hitching a ride?

And BTW, the photos loaded just fine for me.

Oh dear not another. I don't know why AMASS does this, I get it with others images occasionally, it must be something at your end, perhaps the AMASS page code times out waiting for the image to be served.

My server is completely static so it is just a link to a jpeg, click on the image failed to load box and it should open in a popup.

When I go back to that post of yours I still see the same thing.....

When you say

"the AMASS page code times out" and "My server is completely static o it is just a link to a jpeg, click on the image failed to load box and it should open in a popup."

that is all greek to me. I have no idea what you are telling me.......

Hi, Charles. I have had the same problem with photos not loading. It happens occasionally with the posts of just some specific members. I find I can still view the photos by clicking on the icons. I don't know if you have discovered that - you didn't say. Give it a try.

Taken at the Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane.

#1 is a Jumping Spider munching on a hapless insect.

I think #2 is some type of Banded Pupa parasite Wasp, the Ovipositor indicating a female.

Cheers

Dennis

Nice shots Dennis! The jumper looks like a female of one of the Opisthoncus species.
