Nice shots Dennis! The jumper looks like a female of one of the Opisthoncus species.

Thanks Stephen, she did not want to let go of her breakfast!:-)

Cheers

Dennis

Great shots! That parasite looks quite large for the fly! Do you know if it harms the host? Or is it just hitching a ride?

And BTW, the photos loaded just fine for me.

It is not the first time I have seen large mites or lots of mites on things, they seem to behave as if they are not there but it can't do them any good.

When I go back to that post of yours I still see the same thing.....

When you say that is all greek to me. I have no idea what you are telling me.......

Achilles, fleet footed mankiller...

- at least that came from Greek.

Just try clicking the flailed to load box, it is an occasional issue for some.

Taken at the Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane.

#1 is a Jumping Spider munching on a hapless insect.

I think #2 is some type of Banded Pupa parasite Wasp, the Ovipositor indicating a female.

Cheers

Dennis

We currently have -9ÂșC temperatures here and snow, so bug season is over. It will resume in May which is 7 months away. Maybe I will get a chance to travel to a warm place with interesting bugs during the winter.

Here is a wasp from summer.

Hi, Charles. I have had the same problem with photos not loading. It happens occasionally with the posts of just some specific members. I find I can still view the photos by clicking on the icons. I don't know if you have discovered that - you didn't say. Give it a try.

Yes I have found that true on some others posted, but I did not try it on Lester's shots.

Thank you it Archi!! ;-)a

Not a great image, but fun. I shot this one handed with the D3200/Sigma 105 while I was out birding. It landed on the D7000/Tamron 150-600 which I had in my other hand! :)

Might be of interest to us bug shooters. These are the winning shots from the 2020 Luminar bug photography 2020 contest.
