Yes, Zerene has a similar capability. But I thought you said you used PS for this.

Charles, what Dennis said. Basically you find an image with the sharp antenna or leg and clone it in, then repeat for the next out of focus part.

Hi Ed

I tend to use PS CC when there is gross movement, such as when insect bodies move or change orientation, then I manually select the best frames to assemble the final stack but here I rely on an insect having a clean BG to help with the blending.

Where the movement is mainly antennae and/or legs with the bodies reasonably fixed between frames, and there isn't too much overlap of insect parts, then Helicon is my preferred tool.

Cheers

Dennis

Was stacking involved? Both ends are sharp! Good capture.

Hi Ed

Yes - this one had 4 frames loaded into PS CC Layers and I just used Layer Masks to blend the sharpest head, body and legs from the relevant frame. In this case, the insect stayed reasonably still between shots, making the task a lot easier.:-)

Cheers

My wife spotted these today, so I grabbed the EOS R5 and used Focus Bracketing (hand held) to extend the depth of focus.

I think they may be some type of Shield Bug?

Cheers

Dennis

And here is one that Europe seems to have introduced to North America. These things are truly horrible. Lipoptena cervi, the deer louse fly. They cling to your hair and bite. This one is on my wife's fleece – for some reason she did not want to stay still while I took the shots!

Some defect in the wing I guess, TBH I don't know.

Sometimes you get interlopers - I don't think that's what this is.

Best interloper I ever had was a tiny jumping spider on a butterfly's as wing!

Feels like ages since I used my macro lens as all the bugs seemed to have vanished. But today this little critter appeared so I was pleased to take these photos.

These were taken with the R6 which I am still getting used to.

It did look to me like another insect burrowing it's way inside the bug. I did not think that was a wing but just part of the back of the body.
