Feels like ages since I used my macro lens as all the bugs seemed to have vanished. But today this little critter appeared so I was pleased to take these photos.

These were taken with the R6 which I am still getting used to.

Those are really good. It is hard to do good pics of ladybugs.

Thank you. Yes I agree - their shiny shell doesn’t help matters.

Love it! Wonderful pic.

I'm a bit confused, though, about what they are up to. Is this just a short-duration defensive posture? I mean, the little ones have to go out and eat and grow, and you can't do that sheltered under your mom.

Thanks Ed! In answer to your question, the mother defends them for the first 4-5 days after hatching, and then leaves them to it :)

Some interesting insect eggs... but I'm not sure what insect they belong to yet!

Both are focus stacks using Zerene, 1st with the 100L and second with the Laowa 2.5-5x ultramacro.

Each egg is approximately 1.5 mm in diameter. I think the intricate detail is amazing :)

Thanks Richard! They are amazing little structures, aren't they! I'll keep an eye out and try to see what hatches from them :)

Wow! I never would have thought insect eggs would have a "ring" around the top with intricate "dots" around the ring.
An AMAZING find for sure!
1.5mm = 1/16 inch, very small! They look twice that size!

Wow, so interesting. I don't know how you find these tiny things. I suppose it helps to live in Australia. ;-)a Yes, the detailed structure is surprising and special. Great photography.
