No, from the USA (not Jason - he's still unavailable).

I'll bet your itching to fire the new lens up when it arrives!

Most of my shots now are for ID purposes and not artistic. So most will be cropped.
First one is from the Genus Chrysops with beautiful eyes..

Great!!...happy for you. ....Anticipating your images with the Laowa. The way you work that 50mm, you should get some great images with the Laowa.

Like I said before, I am going to get one also.

Not sure, but this guy looks like a tiny, younger version of the bug with what looks like horns. I think a leaf hopper?

Strange thing, as I was watching through the camera I saw this guy extending & contracting it's back half (thorax?).

The thorax is the middle part(our chest), the back half is the abdomen. (and I don't know why it contracts, seen it with laying eggs but this looks just emerged, maybe just practising what it can do?)

I am thinking this could be a Spittlebug nymph....just my thoughts

Most species of Spittlebugs resemble leafhoppers, BUT the hind tibiae of the Spittlebug have at most 1 or 2 strong lateral spines rather than longitudinal rows of enlarged setae like the leafhopper.

Thank you. I am honestly surprised by the sharpness of the nifty-fifty, especially since there is much more crop than with the 100mm. I dare say, it may be sharper than some of the results I've gotten with the 100mm. I'm stoked about the Laowa! A little pissed at myself for not ordering it last week when it was $50 off!! Much too impatient to wait for another sale. We always try to get more magnification, if we need to take a step backwards it takes some getting used to. Judging by the reviews both online & youtube, I'm guessing you and I will both love this lens. Would probably give you a break in size/weight, can't imagine it being bigger/heavier than your Bugma.??

Speaking of "artistic", I have a question for you all. How do you feel about the background I use, always black? My wife mentioned to me the other day that I should go back to the way I used to shoot bugs, flash units with colored gels behind the subject. I used all different methods & all different colors. They do look nice, but I feel the background has the potential to detract from the subject. I like some color but leave that up to what plant/flower I choose to pose the subject on. Even when using my twin flash in the field, I could direct them more outwards and throw some light on the greenery in the background. I just prefer black (doesn't hurt that it's the easiest way;-)a).

I think we will enjoy the lens...I have watched a lot of reviews on it and it is overall a very nice lens for sure..

I agree with you about the size/weight being less than the Bugma..according to specs the Laowa 100mm is 22.5 ounces/638 grams...The Bugma is 40.6 ounces/1150 grams....The Laowa is 18.1 ounces/1.21 pounds lighter than the Bugma ...Yeah, that should be a lot easier on my neck and trying to hold the lens.

Today and tonight's ramblings yielded the following: a hoverfly larvae which was looking for a place to sleep for a few weeks, a snail and it's trail, and a millipede.
