Jun 25, 2021 17:46 | #5599 So the Laowa has arrived. It came late afternoon so little time to play. I plan on giving it a workout this week end. So far, it's beautiful, sleek, black, & heavy. I've never been bothered by heavy as it usually is one of the signs of quality. Need to play as all lenses are different as far as when diffraction sets in. I had no problem with the 100mm or the 50mm all the way up to f/16. Image hosted by forum (1109235) © Pigpen101 [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. That means generally using special techniques to get in close to show detail. Not sure if you are aware, but there are macro lenses available for phones, and they take incredible macro photos. The macro lenses are not that expensive and are available on Amazon and other places. Here is some info on them. Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F

There is one example below. You can find much more on the web, in Flickr, and in Facebook. https://iphonephotographyschool.com/karin-taylor/ oh woow thank heap! I rarely do macro shot ... when this thread just popped up with the title of bug shot, I just post mine without paying attentions “A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” Ed.Steichen (1879 – 1973)

Plus a first ever for me of the false pirate spider, Platnickina tincta And while taking these a hedgehog snuffled by... She didn't mind the flash (flinched the first time which worried me, but seemed happy after that) and if you look closely you can see she has passengers.. Paul. My site: http://www.pauliddon.co.uk

Awesome set. Being here in the states & never seeing a hedgehog in the "wild", this thing would have scared the s#@t out of me! Curious Paul, you obviously using flash (cause you said so), do you angle your light for some background color or is that why you're dragging the shutter a little? I've always preferred to allow my background to go full black but the wife has mentioned I should go back to adding some color. She says the black background shots are for "science books".

If you open your shutter speed to around 1/60sec, the nearby background will illuminate a little more than if you use 1/200sec. My site: http://www.pauliddon.co.uk
