This first one was really tiny, probably less than 1cm. Finally managed to get the eye on focus. Second one was minuscule, too. Ah, the fun of focusing with barely any depth of field. :-)

That's what I thought. I've had bad luck with the ambient light, slower shutters, & shiny subjects. Their movement was definitely detectable.

I will be playing this weekend. So far what I've noticed, compared to the Canon glass, I definitely need to boost saturation in post to get it closer to reality. I won't be using the tubes in the field, with the added weight of the twin flash on the very front. Added to the weight of the lens, I don't feel comfortable with all that extension.

Great!!
Do you shoot in RAW?
I shoot in RAW and I find that I have to adjust a small bit also. It's not a big deal to me... I have played with the in camera settings but it just is not to my liking SOC.
I understand the weight issue....as I posted the other day...this Bugma is over 2 pounds by it self and then i have the KX-800 twin flash with a DIY diffuser...I will be over a pound lighter when I get the Laowa......yoooohoo!!

Looking forward to your photos!!

I'm not bothered by the overall weight, it's the extra pressure it puts on the connection of the tubes with the flash unit mounted to the front of the lens. I often shoot RAW, but not recently. Just quit my Adobe subscription & bought Elements, which only has a generic RAW converter. I am NOT a fan of computer time & post production so highest quality JPEG is good enough for me.

These green metallic bees are by far my favorite little creatures to find. It is so rare that I actually come across one, they're like unicorns of the bee world here. You captured him fantastically!

This is the last one I found around the desert.

Three shots of a very tiny weevil, no crop. The first is 1:1, the second is 2:1, & the third is 2:1 + tubes (I'm thinking 3:1?)

Same shot as above with tubes, but cropped the way I normally would.

First field test. The Laowa + my twin flash. This is maxed out @ 2:1, no tubes. Then a crop to show detail of lens. I missed the eye but the sharpness is there.

Once comfortable, I plan setting it up the same way as my Canon. My extension tubes were always attached, when I moved focus to infinity it gave me 1:1 & minimal focus would give me 2:1. The same would give me a range from 2:1 to 3:1 (I think). This sounds good in my head but there might be time 2:1 is too much. I have a lot of shooting before I get as comfortable with it as I am with my other macro gear.
