Thanks! I think this was just a chance encounter of these two bugs. There were quite a few in the area. The "communication" was probably just Oh, there is somebody in my way, I better stop or go around.

Speckled Sharpshooter and a Pearl Crescent. The Sharpshooters always got to the opposite side of the branch when they see you, so I put my hand behind the branch to make them come back around.

I don't think I've ever seen a sharpshooter before, but leafhoppers behave similarly. Maybe you could paint eyes on your fingers to help with getting them to come back. ;-)a

Yes, they don't hang around! This was taken on a kitchen surface so I could get down level and track it's run in parallel (with a little careful re-directing!) as it moved towards a diffused flash.
