Wow - a spectacular photo, it is hard enough just getting one of these insects in in flight!:-)

Cheers

Thanks for the comments, everybody. This was actually taken a few years back but it was not sharp, so I never posted it. I came across it again and decided to try Topaz Sharpen on it. And I was pleased with the result.

For a long time I was not convinced Topaz was any better than the tools in Lightroom for sharpening and noise control. Earlier this year I finally bought it, and with experience found that it can be very good with many photos. I'm a believer now.

Common looper moth (Autographa precationis).

Conehead katydid (Neoconocephalis sp.) This male was raising a ruckus in the back yard late last summer, so it was easy to find. I've learned to handle them with respect since they can bite pretty hard. But he settled in nicely with a piece of lettuce.

Great shots. That moth looks pretty hard to find.

Amazing shots, Tim! I like them all, but especially the fly with the eyes that look like an optical illusion.

The RF 50mm f1.8, the cheap nifty fifty, continues to astound me. Didn't think I would manage a "macro" insect shot with it, but I did, and it's so light and easy to carry on a long walk.

While I was photographing this Ladybug it started cleaning itself, kinda like a cat licking its paws.

Tech Specs: Canon 90D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to 2x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT, E-TTL metering, -1 FEC. This is a single frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order.
