Thank you, Mr. Expert!

Following your instruction, I found Slender Rice Bug (Leptocorisa acuta) (external link) matches my bug very well (DSC09963).

Again, thanks!

You're welcome, but I'm not an expert. I just used Google Lens. :-D

Thanks! I have to admit I'm REALLY enjoying the Fuji body with adapted mf Zeiss glass for macro type shots. The focus peaking works extremely well, enough so that I can get shots easier that using AF many times. The peaking just really stands out.

Great shot! If I may ask, how do you use the RF 100, AF or MF? I have one but I struggle with it in AF. It tends to want to focus on the wrong thing, then when using tracking I can't adjust it manually (you can in single shot AF). I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just use it in manual focus to begin with (but then I need good peaking because I don't think the guide area is small enough).

Thanks, John.

I'm still getting used to the R5/RF100mm combo. I usually use AF in continuous mode, but am finding it balky. Focus is often totally lost and then I can't even see the subject any more. Getting focus back on the bug is hard then, and I miss shots. The closer I get to the subject, the harder the AF is.

I do my AF with back-button focus, so releasing that button stops the AF and lets me focus manually. Often the AF doesn't get me the magnification I would have wanted, so it can take several tries. In this mode, there is no focus peaking.

I have tried MF too, especially at the higher magnifications where AF is harder. It presents the problem of finding the critter in the viewfinder. It has worked for me at times, though. More experience needed.

I can't get that figured out on mine. I use back button as well, but if I'm in continuous mode I can let off the button and I still don't have MF. I have a setting wrong somewhere, just don't know where.

In addition, I find the R3 even tougher to get set up correctly. I guess I need to do a deep dive.

When you let go of the backbutton, AF stops and the lens stops focusing. Then you can focus by moving the camera towards or away from the subject. It isn't really MF because that is set by a switch on the lens.

. Ahhhhh…okay. I interpreted as you could focus with the focus ring …okay yes to can do that. As you said though, very clunky process at best. I have better luck with ef mounted lens.
