This red admiral landed on a paddling pool - maybe it mistook the flower design for being a real flower! :-P

Yellow and orange. A tiny aphid on the end of a flower petal. Taken with the new R7 and RF100 macro lens which are not in the system yet.

What is the black and red one? You captured great detail in both shots, (as always :) )

I risked my life to take close-up photos of this killer hornet.

Just kidding, no risk at all. It's a fly. A Dronefly - Monoceromyia javana (external link)

Definitely a cicada exoskelton. Last year in June and July the tree trunks in MD had so many of them as the 17 year brood emerged in the millions. Fascinating. Here is one emerging before leaving the exoskeleton behind.

Issid planthopper (Thionia simplex)

so I finally found an effective way to use the RF100 without the struggle of AF. Turns out I had to turn off focus start at half-press of the shutter button in order to get manual focus to work, and still have the ability to AF with the back button. I'm still playing with a few settings, but my experience improved significantly.

What a cute bug! It is a nice pic of it.

I'm also still experimenting with the RF100, and I too have turned off focus at half-press of the shutter button. There are those who say backbutton focus isn't needed any more with mirrorless, but I can't figure that out, so am still using it, successfully I think!

I have the * button programmed to switch to eye AF for times when I switch to birds or other large critters. Sometimes it even works for bugs.
