Late-season yellow jacket on some flowers. It was cold (10°C) and it wasn't too frisky. R7 and RF100mm macro.

This Bluebottle Blowfly was sunning itself on a wooden beam in the back garden and didn't seem to mind me taking a few shots.

The face on shot is a composite of two frames with the AF on the eyes and then manually moved to along the body, to extend the DOF.

Taken with the Canon RF 100mm F2.8L IS USM macro lens (not yet in database).

Cheers

Dennis

Not a fly of high repute, but you made it look beautiful.

Good job with the 2-frame stack.

He’s an unusual looking little fella; colour co-ordinated down to his antennae, and then there’s those striking orange legs.

Very nice series. I’ve never seen one with those markings. We call them Shield Bugs here. they are interesting to photograph.

Thanks, Finsnapper.

The markings on the back resemble a face IMO, and I cannot find the identical one from the local stink bugs (shield bugs) records either.
