It's easy to forget just how tiny jumping spiders are when we look at your wonderful photos Stephen.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

While I was laid up at my sister’s from a broken patella, I was given the chore of feeding her koi that were down three flights of stairs, which was quite a challenge in my leg brace with absolute instructions not to fire my quads for 10 weeks. So the easiest way was to shuffel out on the upper deck, then pour the fish pellets mixed in water down 30’ below. I don’t know what the fish thought? A food bomb or mana from heaven!

However, there was an oak tree beside the pond whose leafy branch was right beside the deck, so being a macro-goob I started checking it for something to help my itchy shutter finger.
Sheesh, I didn’t know Lacebugs were so small!
I also found their eggs and larvae.

I have shot Lacewings before, but had never found their larva before. From above, I just thought this was some random fluff that landed on the leaf before I noticed it moving a little. It probably only took me about 50 shots to get one with its eyes and mandibles showing.
I was also pretty excited to find lacewing eggs, and with all the time in the world to wait for them to start hatching, but alas they had all already hatched! Poo

Great shot!

Thanks ... the ring flash was too limiting - moved to a single off-camera flash for improved results.

An ant? Isn't it a crocodile?
