Sweat Bee on a daisy flower. Not bad macro for the 100-500mm zoom.

Thanks Archie and others. Well, I was zoomed in pretty tight, and they are heavily cropped to please my eye. I’ve had a fascination with dragonfly and other, well any compound eyes for some time. While I have taken macros of horseflies eyes before, never from such a low angle, and was surprised to find the lower part was so interesting. Also, these seem to be more domed, or have more camber than dragonflies.
Here is another.

Yet, another, Dragon fly. Hard to resist. What's nice is even though they are startled easily, if you wait a minute or two, they generally come right back to where you startled them from. They fly a pattern in the area. So, if you miss one, wait a couple minutes, it will probably some back to the exact same spot. That's what this one was doing for me.

Worn out by the work
Judging by the condition of its wings, this bee has already accumulated a lot of flying hours.

I haven't shot any macro shots in quite some time, but I thought I would change up the pace today and try some of insects around the yard. Just a basic shot here, no layering and a shallow dof but plenty of light and color with the TTL flash and diffuser.
Here's a shot of a Florida Lubber.

Yeah, shooting little critters is fun. You have nice lighting in this shot.

Cosmophasis micarioides, one of the more colourful little jumping spiders in South East Queensland. This is the female.
