Pretty cool creature, I can't wait to find another.

And I wanna see another one. I'm thinking yours is the only one in the world. :p:lol:

Ha, ha, ha...never been referred to as "my liege" before. I still want to to see another photo of one, just to be sure.

For those who might want to know (and those who don't :)), the Leopard Lacewing butterfly I posted before has just 4 functional legs. Here is a closeup.

The folded vestiges of legs at the front are just used for cleaning, according to info on the web. Heck, 4 legs should be enough.

This might be one of its relatives. Seen in Nicaragua.

Beautiful colors great shot, Archibald. I think 4 functional legs are plenty...heck, I get by with 2.

Nice shot Archibald. By George, it does look like the other one. I believe you've done it. There is more than one!! I can't be sure from the camera angle, but it sure looks like the one that Macroramphosis posted. I believe I'll celebrate with a shot of scotch.

Looks like it too! I bet there are several different species. We need to find more!

Good stuff, best bet is to go to Central America. How about in January?

Caterpillars on threads, like sailors on ropes. Neat captures! And hard to do. I know, I've tried it.

Thank you, almost impossible, they were swinging not only in and out of focus but almost completely out of the frame!

Went out yesterday to the local ravine in a balmy 8°C to see if any bugs survived the snow and mild frost (-2°C) of the last few days. Success! There were more or less the normal amount of bugs, of the normal variety.

Here is a ladybug sipping water from a drop.

Very nice, sharp image, Archibald. It's kind of weird to think that a single drop of water can easily quench their thirst.
