The patterns are fascinating. I believe the veins and cells in the wings are identical in each individual of a species. The "program" for the pattern is in the genes. Quite amazing IMO.

No special technique. The shots were using the 100-400mm II lens. The wing shot was just a crop, spiced up in LR.

i tried image stacking with a rail on a tripod a while back. results were good but my patience was tested.
