Apologies for the quality but I find it really hard to crouch down really low these days. My back and knees complain loudly!

I took this simply because I have never seen a small caterpillar with hairs that were quite so long. I am trying to get an ID but so far all I've managed to do is narrow it down to six hundred species ...

Any help would be appreciated. The body was approx 30mm long.

This is a nice shot of this caterpillar. I sure don't know what kind it is, but considering it is from Australia, I would not touch it!

Many of our caterpillars aren't very poisonous at all, really. If you were to handle this one, you'd probably only get slightly killed.

I wouldn't last a second in Oz if I went about my macro business like I do here. I lose the odd limb here to to mosquitos and brambles as it is, so I'm guessing in Australia my wife would just find my camera and shoes close to a hole in the ground with a web over it.

Very nice bug shot. It looks dangerous with that long beak. Nice dash of color from the berries.

I think that’s another Western Conifer Seed bug. It is their flight season right now, so not unusual ߘ

Super shots Archi. Your macro has swayed my decision on upgrading from the 40d to the 7dmk2. Are these stacked?

Both shots are great but the first one is my favourite. Having the bee facing more toward the camera gives it more of a personality.

Hi, Mat. Thanks! No, these shots are not stacked. I have done some stacking, and want to do so again, but the ones I have been posting here are all single shot, hand-held. The 7D2 is great for macro, good focus, great cropability. The 40D was super in its day! An example below - damselfly.

Yeah the 40d served me well for 12ish yrs. Note to self, don't use the new camera with ciggie in hand. The smoke will eventually ruin the sensor ߘ. Looking at your shots the 7Dmk2 will be more than adequate. Should be on the way in a month, then i can start posting pics again. Love your shots, so sharp.

Far fewer insects around here in the UK than even a couple of weeks ago. Well into autumn now. Found this little fellow, though, but he seemed to be on his last legs...

Nice shot of that hoverfly. We too will have to wait till spring for the new bug season... unless we want to travel south.
