I got a cheap Chinese finite objective just to play with as I've never used any objective before. I didn't expect any great images and I wasn't disappointed..........these lens not of any real use but I needed to get my feet wet as it were. This is the second attempt.

Canon 7d with 10x finite objective
Bellows W/ EF12 &25 extension tubes
Shotstacker @30um for 34 images
3 speedlites @ 1/128th power

Any and all comments welcome.........and advice when it comes to using an microscope objectives.

One problem is the red that keeps appearing which I've surmised is the speedlites talking to each other. How do I eliminate this?

Amazing photo! Man, this is real close! That objective sounds like a neat gadget to play with.

What is a finite objective anyway? How do you mount it to the camera? What was your f-stop?

Could the red be a reflection of something nearby?

This is embarrassingly bad -- not enough light, not enough of him in focus, etc., but I was sweeping the covered deck and there he was. I did get him to go onto my hand so I could take him out into the sunshine, but unfortunately he decided to fly away before I could take any photos in better light. This was taken before I got him onto my hand. He was on the siding above the sliding glass doors. I obviously need some way to get more light (I grabbed a flashlight, which you can probably tell) without trying to move the critter. Nonetheless, I like his face. :-) Just wish more of it could be in focus.

Just a natural curiosity.

Well it's close. I don't think you should see the speedlight IR pulses if that is what you mean, that should be before the shutter opens.

Could it be chromatic aberration?
