I was at an event Friday and was coming down some steps when my camera sling slipped off my shoulder and my 5D3 and the 16-35 attached lens bounced down 4 or 5 steps and onto concrete. Today, I tested the camera and lens and they seem to function as they should. The camera was wearing a RRS L-bracket which has some scrapes on the corner and the lens hood has some scrapes on the shoulder. I can no marks on either the camera or the lens. I am amazed they both still function. Are Canon products that well built? Or, is some innard part likely to fail before long?

I dropped my 5D3 from just below shoulder height (zipper not zipped on back pack :eyeroll: ) with a lens and I don't remember which one.. 50mm? and it did hiccup once, but seems to be fine.. several months later. my 50D use to bang around in all manner of ways.

And of course, you have the 7D ultimate torture test:

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

Of course luck can brake anything any time, but yes my experience with Canon equipment has been that they are VERY solid devices.
I am glad yours came through so well!
