One minute I am for the Canon 16-35f4 and the next minute I am all for the Tamron SP 15-30mm f2.8 Di VC. Have looked and read reviews and charts and its still a toss up right now. Wondering if anybody has worked with both lens and could shed some light on it. That 2.8 kinda makes my mouth water, but then the Canon will do the same thing....

definitely want to make the right decision.....

advise anybody????

Perhaps shed some light on how you’re planning to use the lens you purchase.

My preference may not fit your use.

the tamron has a bulbous front element. if you use filters you need to consider that. if you shoot astro you wouldn't be comparing the two lenses. I know my needs but yours not so much

Landscaping and family activities is how I will utilize the lens. Even though its twice as expensive I think I am going with the canon. There is a 15-30 on sale in the "for sale" section for 600 but without any reservation I think I may go with the canon. A canon 16-35 sold for 740, new they want over 900. Willing to buy used if it is a decent copy. Just missed the 740 deal most people want around 800....if I pay that I am willing to buy a new one. But the 600 15-30 just sticks out....not to impressed with the size of the lens on the 15-30 (front). May be a hinderance. Ed, do you still have yours for sale?

thoughts?

Have owned both of these UWA lenses. Found the Tamron very big and
heavy in comparison to the Canon. IQ in both is very good. The Tamron is of course a 'faster' lens however I ended up keeping the Canon, f4 is fine for me (landscapes mostly) and it's cheaper.
