Time Magazine used a photog's image of a little child PS with Trump looking down on her. The photog did not mind their image used out of context.

What is the groups opinion on this.

I feel their image is being used by both sides of the issue and would ask everyone from using it for their own profits

I think the photo of the child is appropriate in the larger context. Given the plain red background, it's obvious that the two figures were photographed separately, in different places, and "pasted in."

This thread may be doomed as too political.

I think that it is important for journalistic photos to show as much context as possible. Eliminating context changes it from journalism to opinion.

It's TIME, not exactly the pinnacle of journalism, but I do agree with you. Pretty sure they have done similar things numerous times in the past.

What you say seems right to me. However, the work we're talking about is a photo-illustration, used to dramatize one theme that can be extracted from a series of events. It isn't meant to show "what you might have seen if you'd been there," and no reader would interpret it that way. I'd judge it inappropriate if on an inside page, where we expect pictures of reality, not composites constructed to express an idea.

No different than a political cartoon. It's an opinion conveyed using Photoshop instead of a #2 pencil.
