I've always thought I would like to try to get decent shots of all 25 regular warbler species in our county and put them on one page. It's taken a while! The final species was the Pine Warbler found on the Koochiching County Big Day at the end of May. Finally today, with thunderstorms brewing, it was a perfect time to put it together. I made tightly cropped, virtual copies of them in Lightroom, flipped them all to face the same way, and added captions. Heck, I even alphabetized them! More could be done to embellish the product, but I'm pleased to finally have been able to put this all together. I hope you enjoy them!

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Thanks, Doc; I appreciate it. Do you know how many regulars you would have to photograph? To get where I wanted to be with this project has taken years.

Thank you so much, Nancy, for the kind comment. And my copyright infringement lawyers will be in touch with you shortly. Seriously, do you have the Warbler Guide by Stephenson and Whittle? It's excellent.

Allan, as of now I have 21 species that are decent, useable images and that’s going back to 2008. You have several that I don’t have and I’ve got a couple that I didn’t see in your collage. Something to think about. I sure like what you did.

You seem to be well on your way, Doc. If I lived in a different part of the State, I'd have a different mix; so, I have no doubt your birds and mine aren't the same. I'm a member of the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union and they have county lists showing what birds have been reported where; that's how I came up with my 25. I think you can do something similar at arbirds.org, the Arkansas Audubon Society records database. Good luck and I'd love to see your final product.

Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with arbirds.org and do have a Arkansas Audubon Society checklist. The checklist doesn’t break it down by county but it would be a place to start. I have an ace in the hole here. A very good friend of mine is an expert on warblers and just gave a presentation on warblers of Jefferson County, my home county. He could in short order, give me a list of warblers that would be considered regulars or residents and which would be considered migrants. If I ever get this project off the ground I’ll let you know.

That would be the way to start then, Doc. Given our winters up here, all of these birds are migrants. Upon their return, some then are summer residents and some pass through going further north, but can predictably be seen every year. So those are the two groups comprising my collection. There are two other warblers, Cerulean and Black-throated Blue, that have been reported in the county, but perhaps only once or twice, so they are not included.

Ah! That is a good question. I believe that for the most part the answer is yes. My goal was to get the brightly-colored, breeding males. But I'd have to do a little research on a couple to make sure that I succeeded. The Tennessee would be a good example as I don't think of them as displaying as much sexual dimorphism as some of the flamboyantly-colored species. Anyway, thank you for your comment.
