I wanted to come up with a little different way of displaying my vintage Esterbrook fountain pen I recently acquired. I believe they were made during the late 1940's to early 1950's.

That's gorgeous, Gene.
I didn't know about your hidden calligraphy talents assuming that the writing is your own and not done in PS!
I do a lot of calligraphy myself but with more ordinary tools than your beautiful fountain pen.
The lighting and mood it created is just perfect though that crisp shadow around the ink well is a tiny bit too sharp in my view. And I say it not to be harsh on you but just wanting to share my honest feedback :)

Thanks for your comments Renata, I always appreciate it. The hard shadow was caused by a snooted flash I used to simulate light from a table lamp falling on the "8-Ball" pen holder. I probably should have tried to diffuse it a bit. That same light also created the hard shadow under the pen.

The text was added in photoshop as, sadly, I have no talent at all when it comes to penmanship.

Here's a little closer look at the nib of my pen. The #2556 nib is listed as a “Firm Fine” for general writing.

Gene, thanks for the explanation :)

The pen and nib are both beautiful.

Interesting. I have 2 of these same pens from when my dad passed. One has a 1551 nip and the other a 2668. Unfortunately I have only the pens and not the stand.

I like your image Gene. Very clean with the light placing emphasis on the pen. The inclusion of the note reminds me when we were schooled in penmanship and cursive writing, which these style pens really excelled at.

Gorgeous image. It is sad penmanship, cursive writing, let alone calligraphy, is not taught in schools now.

Also noticed the old rotary dial phone. Where did you find that? Looks just like the one my grandmother had when I was real young (just a few years ago ) :)

Thanks. Both of my parents had beautiful handwriting and I remember learning penmanship when I was in grammar school. Unfortunately, it didn't do me much good. As to the phone, I wish it were authentic but it's a replica. The numbers are actually push buttons instead of there being a rotary dial. I bought it on Amazon some time ago.
