You should get one. They are fun to play with, and the light they cast is beautiful. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for taking the time to look. Happy clicking! xxx

Do you have a suggestion for an inexpensive Bowens mount disk? I run speedlights but have the adapter/mount. Use it with soft boxes and snoots, works a treat! Amazon is my go-to, if you happen to find a link that you like.. Also what size do you suggest??

Im liking the Godox and Neewer dishes. Your opinion?

Thanks-

This is where I bought mine:

http://www.cowboystudio.com …ts.asp?Search=beauty+dish (external link)

I was using my speed light at first, and then I just bought a monolight in the end, for it had more power.

the size of my dish is not large. It really depends on how you will use it. I am really into experimental lighting, so
I may use several mono lights in one session, focusing the beauty dish on the face as the key light.

I looked at your link, and the beauty dishes look good. I don't believe you need to get too fancy. Basically a dish is a dish. It just needs to be sturdy, and I find the beehive attachment does a splendid job. You can get several sizes which basically allow for different amounts of light to be pushed through them for different effects.

I have the Impact folding beauty dish (34”) and I like it. They’re available in sizes from around 24” to 40” and maybe even bigger. It only takes a minute to fold out and lock the parts of the frame to make it taut. It breaks down even faster, and folds down pretty small and light for transport. It’s not overly robust, as the fiberglass rods will break if you toss it around while it’s stretched open... but as long as you aren’t rough with it then it should be fine. It also includes a diffuser cover/sock if you’d rather use it more like a softbox than a dish. Here’s the one I have: https://www.bhphotovideo.com …lding_beauty_dish_34.html (external link)

I don't use my beauty dish anywhere near enough. Probably because I don't know what I'm doing with it. :D

How is that different than a reflective umbrella that my speedlight would flash into??

Thx,
Andrew

Basically a dish is a dish.

I am no expert but not all dishes are created equal. Some are junk (AB high output dish for example, their old white BD wasn't bad). Mola on other hand are worth it IMHO.

I like the first one a lot. In the second one she looks drunk.

She wasn't drunk just a pain in the butt model. She could have used a drink...
