Lester,
Nice series. I see you used a 180 for this work. Do you like being able to get closer to your subjects than you can with the 100-400? It can be frustrating because some bugs will get nervous when you're close to them. I used to say that the only ones I could compose "wanted" their picture taken. ;-)a

I don't have a 100-400 but I generally find macro lenses give better results than telephoto lenses. The 180 is long for a macro lens, a 100mm is more typical. I tend to use the 180 because of slightly more working distance and tighter perspective than the 100mm, although the 100mm can be better is some cases where there is a lot of undergrowth clutter.
