The Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog (Litoria fallax), also known as the Eastern Sedge-Frog, is a species of tree frog. It is a small and very common frog and found on the eastern coast of Australia.

This is a small species of frog; females can reach a maximum size of 25–30 mm, while males may only reach 20 mm when fully grown.

They look so cute.:-)

Taken with the Canon RF 100mm F2.8L IS USM (not yet in database).

Cheers

Dennis

Here we have two quite different views of wild Eastern Water Dragons taken at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane this morning.

They are quite used to visitors, so they are generally quite tolerant of posing for the camera.:-)

Cheers

Awesome. Certainly pulled out the details on these Dennis.
Colourful too.
I'd spend, waste a lot of time around those :-P

Thanks Richard, it is quite fascinating to watch how they interact with each other, you can almost sense the instinctual processes in their reptilian brains as they protect their territory.:-)

Arboreal termite nest. This nest has Sacred kingfishers nesting in the other side.
The Kingfishers have used this side previously which was then used by Kookaburras.
Now a Ring-tailed possum calls it home.

Great shots. Is that it's Nictitating membrane in the 2nd shot?

Thanks Richard. It amuses me when I see it's tail hanging out.
I see them at various life stages.
I found a Powerful owl pellet about 30 metres away from this one.
Poss will need to be smarter than the average Bear to survive.

Thanks.:-)

I suspect that the effect is just the Speedlite Diffuser doing its job of diffusing the light.:-)

It is quite remarkable at how the Owl can take down such a strong creature as a Possum.

I encountered this beautiful specimen of a Carpet Python (non-venomous) some 10km into the walk along the West Canungra Creek circuit in in the Green Mountains section of the Lamington National Park, 110km south of Brisbane. There was no space to pass the python so I had to slowly follow it as it glided along the narrow trail, with no passing spots either side. It looked to be approx. my height in length, some 5ft 10ins or 1.8 metres.

After 5 minutes I spotted a fallen Palm Frond on my left, so I picked it up with the idea of placing it between the Python and myself as I jumped over it.:-)

However, the noise and movement of me picking up the Palm Frond startled the snake which turned around and launched itself at me, mouth gaping with several short lunges.

However, I was well out of reach, cowering behind the broad leafed Palm Frond and skipped over the reptile's body at what must have been a record height for a standing jump.

The snake happily slithered off into the undergrowth whilst I sat down on a rock to clear the cortisol and adrenaline coursing through my system. It took a couple of minutes of deep belly breathing before my frontal cortex came back on line after having been hijacked by the fight or flight response of the amygdala.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

Less than 20 minutes after the close encounter with the carpet Python I came across this Reb-bellied Black Snake.:-)

It is a medium-sized black snake with a red belly. It has a glossy black upper body and bright red or crimson sides and belly. It is a venomous snake but not aggressive and prefers to avoid humans.

The average adult is about 1.5 - 2m long, with males growing slightly larger than females. Some have been known to grow up to 2.5 metres in length, making it one of the largest venomous snakes in Australia.

This time there was enough room to attempt to pass the snake (broken branch in hand) but as expected, it preferred to avoid me and slithered off.:-)

Cheers

A few weeks old Freshy (Freshwater Crocodile) relaxing amongst the lilies at Fogg Dam. Took me around 40 minutes to finally spot it a few meters away. :-)
