While testing out as new headlamp I found this well-camouflaged Stone Gecko (Diplodactylus vittatus) and Ornate Burrowing Frog (Platyplectrum ornatum) in forest west of Brisbane

Beautiful photos of these Stephen

Interesting how similar the colours and markings are in each.
The animals, stone & leaves all so even.

Thanks Richard! Yes, they both blend in very well. There's no way I would have spotted them without a head torch.

Great photo, Dennis! These were my favourites when I lived on the Gold Coast. The northern water dragons up here are a lot smaller and less impressive!

Spotted Tree Monitor - they certainly seem to be more active and about in this wet weather :-)

Thanks for your comments Sogs and Ulrike, I appreciate them.:-)

At the Roma Street Parklands, these wild EWD's are quite used to visitors, so they don't mind posing when you approach them carefully.:-)

They tend to grow much larger than their truly wild counterparts due to the amount of food they have access to.

Cheers

Dennis

Beautifully marked.
Keep them coming Stephen.

What strikes me is the leg markings.
When sitting like this they flow beautifully from upper to lower

Thanks Richard. Yes, the bars on their legs are quite impressive, aren't they!
