A friend caught this on video and asked me what it is. my thought is kestrel or Peregrine but I'm not sure.

Smaller member of the falcon family; roughly Dove sized
Take note of the white/black/white cheek patch and the slate blue/rust coloring. With the blue extending down to the wing, this would be a male.

Would be a much larger bird; closer in size to a good sized Crow
Has a distinct, solid stripe down the side of its head; giving it a sort of 'roman helmet' appearance. Also, much more solid and darker grey on top, generally whiter in the breast
