Is it worth it?

is the 4:2:2 much better than the 4:2:0?

External recorders can be wonderful, not sure you'll really notice the difference between 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 though as the signal is still an 8bit out so you'll only go so far with grading etc...

If you really need the double subsample of colour for something like screening or high contrast then you might notice it in post making life easier but you are still working with 16.8 million colours as opposed to the one billion colours of 10bit. So in many ways 4:2:0 is well suited to 8Bit. One day Fuji might allow raw out of the sensor at 10/12bit.

But for all the extra on screen tools you can have as well as the limitless recording time an external recorder is wonderful some even let you monitor sound ;-)a

I used it a bit with an atamos inferno..

I don't think its noticeably better..especially if you are not doing any heavy processing

but as has already been metioned, there are many more reasons I like using the external recorder on any camera..

exposure assists as well as focus assists.
also the codec used on some recorders seem to be easier on my computer.. especially if you don't have a super high end editing machine, and I don't . (prores or Dnxhd)

and 1 file instead of Fuji breaking them up into small chunks of 2.x gig (or what ever it is)
