Statue shots

Was just trying out something different CC appreciated

I like the B&W better, but you've got some wide-angle distortion causing the building on the right and the poles on the left to lean in.
You could fix in post-processing, but you'd likely lose the floodlight. Did you add the light ray?

I really like the statue in black and white. The lack of colour draws my attention to the statue. Compositionally there are alot of distracting elements that don't add to the photo such as the poles and some low quality light from the buildings in the background.

Love the lighting though.

In the colour image the floodlight colours really throw it off for me. Maybe its because I have seen it in alot of low quality phone photography. It is unique but just looks amateur due to the colouring on the light.

I personally like this cropping more because it removes the distracting elements. This would have been achieved better in on site composition but if you like that busy and authentic look (you said you were going for something different) then thats fine.

Any critique given will only be subjective. You said you were, "trying something different," but I really don't see anything that says different in your image. Can you give an explanation of what you were trying to do so a more concise critique can be given?
