My camera gear was stolen so I am buying new equipment.
I plan on buying a 16-35mm f4L IS, 24-105mm f4L IS ii, and a telephoto.....
I've had every 70-200 there is, f4, f2.8, IS no IS... all of them took great pics.
I dont know if I should stick with 70-200 or maybe jump into something longer so i have a little more reach. My driving factor is image color and quality.

Here are the lenses I am trying to pick from.....
* 70-200mm f2.8L IS iii.... new lens coming out
*28-300mm f3.5-5.6L IS
*70-300mm f4-5.6L IS
*100-400mm f4-5.6L IS ii

I don't need the range of the 28-300mm but I am a zoomer and it might be a good lens to capture something close while I'm doing sports shots.

Just looking for feedback on the above lenses and some opinions on which lens you would get?

18-135mm USM.

And an 80D to go with it.

Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F

And after more reading, I think I might give the 70-300mm a try.

If it's an indoor sport then the mark III might be the better option since it has the largest aperture between lenses you've mentioned above

If I were starting from scratch I would skip the 24-105 and go with the Tamron 24-70 2.8 with VC. Canon 16-35, Tamron 24-70, and Canon 70-200 or 100-400 II.

I already have a canon 24-70mm f2.8 ii, but I planned on buying the 24-105 for the extra reach because I always feel like I need a little more.

I really wanted to get extra reach with the 70-300mm lens but I finally realized I should stick with what I know works. My 70-200mm f2.8 is ii was crystal clear, colors popped and every picture made me say 'I love this lens', so I am going to reserve a mark 3 version of the same. I don't need more than 200mm but I could always get a 1.4 extender if the need arises.

I owned one of these a long time ago and used it once for an NHRA event. ONCE... lol, not worth it.
The 70-200mm will get used much more!

Just to finalize this thread...
I ended up going with a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM.

I used to have a sigma 50-150mm and loved it plus the reviews on this lens were great AND along with a purchase of the lens came a 2x extender free and I saved $800 over buying the new Canon 70-200 iii.

After a little use, I would say it's not a Canon but it takes very nice pictures and will be perfect for me.
