Here is another from yesterday. It appears there has been some damage between it's wings on the body.

If you are in the USA, Dennis Paulson’s book is the best I’ve seen.
If you are out West I’m not aware of anything online.

Thanks. I am in Montana, for what it's worth.

I've become intrigued by Dragonflies and Damsel flies. The more I learn about them, the more interesting they become.
Learning to photograph them is another fascination. I am using my Canon 100-400 version 2, on a 7D MK II and am happy with the results so far. I have two extension tubes that I want to experiment with.
Surprising, at least to me, is that there is a huge variation in how tolerant the different types are. Some will tolerate me within inches, others need at least a few feet safe space.
I definitely need a good field book, and/or a good ID site.
Here is a what I think is a Seepage Dancer from yesterday, a very windy day.

They are interesting creatures. They spend most of their time in the larval stage. The damselfly you posted has a life expectancy of a couple weeks. Few die a natural death but are done in by birds, fish, etc. There are a number of good sites you can check out; here are two:

Pretty. We have similar damsels here in North America and they are hard to approach.

The UK ones are hard to approach too, took a while to get close enough to one.
