Had this one done in a 20x10 in image size for my show in Sept. I added the camo mat and kind of like that.

The background is obviously fake but is the Fox a taxidermy? Looks off imo.

There is absolutely "NOTHING" fake about that photo. I did edit the lighting a bit to empathise the fox but that's it.

The direction of the light is coming from behind the fox, yet there's a catch light in it's eyes and the log it's standing on is well lit so it's front lit as well? So either you used off camera flash, or replaced the background using photoshop. I was simply curious as to how you made this image as it's seems more like a "digital art" image rather than wildlife photography.

No problem, glad you asked. I like to combine my wildlife photos into a bit of art because frankly it helps to sell them to magazines with my various articles and to my customers when I do shows. A lot of things can be done with edits in Photoshop regarding lighting that is why I always shoot in Raw.
Competition is great so it pays to come up with that little something extra that catches a customers eye. Think about this...when you see an article in a sporting magazine if the article header has an eye catching photo its more likely you will read it than if it is merely print.

Keep shooting, I have been doing it for over fifty years and cannot think of a wasted day in the wild.

You have really worked on the image. It would be nice if you can share the post processing details

When the edit is complete I toss the original. Edits in this case were a combination of Lightroom and Google Nik lighting programs sorry but the same will not work with all photos so no sense in going into it here.
Best I can tell you is explore the programs you use you might be shocked at what you find they are capable of.
Getting "THAT" shot that's worth the effort is primary wildlife is not easy it requires a lot of time in the wild getting to know the area and the habits of the birds and animals....There are NO shortcuts.
Most importantly, please yourself first after all this is supposed to be fun, isn't it?
I strive to get photos of birds and animals doing things unusual and never let them know I was there.

Have fun, keep shooting that sure beats sitting in front of the BOOB Tube.

Where's the harm in admitting that it's two photos and not one? The lighting is different in the foreground and background, as was pointed out, the focal lengths are obviously not the same, and frankly one can just see that the fox was cut out in Photoshop. It's not like it's a crime to combine several photos into one image. 11 people like the result, so that's cool. Why pretend it's a single shot then?

Probably the fact that at least one of the images is plagiarized.

The same image can be found on a couple other sites as well. I'll bet money the fox image is stolen also, in fact my best guess is that it's taxidermy to boot.

But I was told there was "NOTHING" fake about the image even though I suspected exactly what you just said lol.
